Yoo Iseol, also known as the Ice Sword Plum Blossom (Hanja: 氷劍梅花, Hangul: 빙검매화) or Moonlit Beauty (Hanja: 月下佳人, Hangul: 월하가인), is a 2nd class disciple of the Mount Hua Sect,[3] and the youngest of the Baek generation.[4] Her father was a disciple who abandoned the sect and tried to restore the lost Plum Blossom Sword Technique.[?]
Appearance
Yoo Iseol has long black hair, pale violet eyes that are not that big and fair skin. She's tall, making her a little intimidating. She is described as the most beautiful woman in Shaanxi. She left her hair be until it reached her waist, signifying how little she cares for appearance. Tang Soso forces her to manage it though, before it becomes a birds' nest.[?] She has a severe look about her,[5] and she gives off a slightly neutral impression, due to her expressionless face and slanted eyes.[?]
As a 2nd ranked disciple in Mount Hua Sect, she wore a black gown with the sect's pink symbol on the upper right of her chest. Later she switches to a white uniform.[?]
A prodigious beauty,[5] Yoo Iseol is even said to be the most beautiful woman in Shaanxi.[?] According to Cheongmyeong, she is a rare beauty, the likes of which he has not often seen even in his 80 years. And stunning enough to overwhelm youngsters into acting foolishly.[3]
A moonlit beauty... how poetic... Her movements are gentle yet powerful, flashy yet elegant... Her sword strokes are delicate, but unwavering. It resembles Mount Hua's [old martial art] style. -- Cheongmyeong[1]
Personality
She tends to march to the beat of her own drum.[6] Although she is a little dense, her sense of self-preservation is still intact.[7] Normally, she likely ignores other guys, as all the Baek disciples are shocked when they saw her take the initiative to talk to Cheongmyeong.[8] Perhaps because of her looks, she does not get into arguments often and is untrained in rhethorics, and can be a little ditzy.[3]
Yoo Iseol is determined and fearless in improving her arts. She does not talk much and is serious when learning new techniques and training. She has great aspirations in learning the Plum Blossom Sword Technique and is diligent in training. In the beginning, Yoo Iseol kept on bothering Cheongmyeong to teach her what she thought was the Plum Blossom Sword Technique. Cheongmyeong thinks of her as an annoying senior, while the rest of the sect perceives her as an unapproachable cold beauty.[?]
Background
She is first seen at the Falling Petals Peak practicing the Yue Maiden Sword Style.[1] Yoo Iseol appears to have entered the Mount Hua Sect in order to follow in her father's footsteps, and revive this sword style.[9]
She began following Cheongmyeong around, bothering him by asking to talk, but left him alone when he was with the other Cheong-line disciples. She kept bothering him to teach her the "sword technique that summons plum blossoms" that she saw him practice the other day.[10] When he refuses, she forces him to spar with her and eventually enters an unconscious trance. While duelling, Cheongyeong subtly corrects her stance, although the improvements may only be temporary.[11] When Baek Cheon tries to chase him off, Cheongmyeong comments it's a shame, as she could have reached a pretty high level of attainment with a little more tweaking from him. He relents that this may be her fate: That her ship has already sailed.[12]
Abilities
Yoo Iseol's sword strokes are "gentle yet powerful, flashy yet elegant (...) Delicate but unwavering."[1] "Swift and coursing sword strokes that flicker like mirages, and hide the killing blows that are targeting the opponent's openings!" Her style is the closest to the original Huashan martial arts style in the present day, and no one else in the sect is able to fight like her.[11] Her Wudang opponents described her style as if her blade was dancing without any openings.[13]
She may have trained in some kind of stealth technique, as her presence is almost impossible to detect. Even while standing in front of her, her presence feels weirdly faint and almost non-discernable, similar to a ghost despite her pleasing appearance.[6][10][5]

Etymology
The official English translation of the webtoon uses Iseol Yu.[3] On the wiki we use Yoo Iseol for consistency. Cheongmyeong has also referred to her as "Isu or whatever," but it's unclear whether this is a translation error or intentional.[14]
